Local Affordable Electrical Services

Most homes were wired for the life their first owners lived, not the one happening inside them now. Between central HVAC the panel wasn’t sized for, EV chargers the service can’t quite support, and generators stitched in by previous handymen; the wiring rarely gets a chance to breathe. Couple this with an undersized or underperforming panel, and you have a recipe for disaster. Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be this way. Roland Black has been doing residential electrical since 1973, offering direct support from licensed electricians near you. Reach out to discuss your electrical needs. We’re here to help.

  • Discussion of what the home is being asked to handle today against what it was originally wired for—added appliances, planned EV, generator interest, warning signs like tripping breakers and warm outlets
  • Panel inspection covering bus condition, breaker brand, double-tapped lugs, and AFCI/GFCI coverage
  • Written load calculation against actual amp draw from connected appliances
  • Walkthrough with photos of any unsafe conditions, framed as facts rather than scare tactics
  • Estimate broken into capacity work, code-compliance work, and discretionary upgrades—homeowner picks the scope
  • Permit application and utility coordination handled by our team
  • Inspection passed on the first visit, with the signed card delivered to you

Our generator work runs through Generac certified and Kohler certified installation programs, which means we offer manufacturer-trained sizing, transfer-switch configuration, and warranty coverage that actually meets the certifying standard. Standby generators get sized two ways: whole-home coverage for households that don’t want to think about which circuits work and which don’t, and critical-circuit coverage for homes prioritizing budget and the essential loads (refrigerator, well pump, medical equipment, key bedrooms). Panel upgrades range from 100-amp service to 200-amp and 400-amp for homes adding EV charging or full electrification. Whole-home surge protective devices install at the panel and protect every circuit downstream. Level 2 EV chargers run on dedicated 240-volt circuits with the appropriate breaker, conduit, and weatherproof housing.

Electrical work gets judged twice—once by us when we pack up, and once by the local inspector who shows up after we leave. Our lifetime workmanship guarantee on labor reflects that standard. We wouldn’t put it behind work that didn’t pass inspection cleanly the first time, and we think you deserve coverage that stays with the home as long as you own it. For households that want even longer parts-and-labor protection, extended labor coverage is available on generator installs and panel upgrades. Every project comes with written pricing before tools come off the truck—no diagnostic fees, no trip charges, and no add-ons that weren’t agreed to up front. And for the bigger projects—standby generators, full service upgrades, EV-readiness work—financing is available on approved credit so the timing works for the household.

Most electrical upgrades come from one of three triggers—a planned project (EV, generator, hot tub), a safety concern (old panel, warm outlet, frequent tripping), or a capacity problem (an addition the existing service can’t quite cover). Electrical panel upgrades handle the capacity side. Generator installation handles the storm-resilience side with Generac and Kohler standby systems. EV charger installation handles the dedicated-circuit work for Level 2 home charging. And surge protection handles the electronics-protection side that point-of-use strips can’t replicate.
